So, confession time. I had to look up "perquisite" because I thought you'd maybe spelled prerequisite wrong. As in, this is a prerequisite before viewing Weisendanger Falls! However, I think you hit the nail on the head...it was definitely perquisite! ;) I'm so glad we stopped here after seeing that fanning swirly thingie. You've captured it beautifully...somehow reminds me of a comet tail! One thing I notice is that the water has lost its color in your shot..I wonder if that's because you shot at creek level and I stayed up on the bank? The water in my shot looks aqua!
Anyway...gorgeous work at this pretty little spot, sweetie! Makes me want to go and hike the creeks all over again. :)

:giggle: could be a prerequisite as well i suppose..

yeah, think the darkness is from the angle i was at..made the density thicker than viewing from above. will leave the actual physics out of it for ya ;)

ready to go when you are! thanks for the kind words, sweetie :huggle:

So it seems you spend a lot of time outdoors in the forest. I haven't done so in a long time, but the things I remember the most about venturing out into such places are the living silence and the scent of the air (especially after an Oregon rain). There are some nature photos that are beautiful but just feel like paintings--crisp reproductions of a scene viewed at a distance through a clean glass window. Yours, though, make me feel like I am there. I feel like I can hear the water flowing, the creaking trees, distant crackles of twigs or rustles of leaves, and that I can smell the moisture in the air, mingled with the damp scent of moss, bark, and soil. I'd blame myself for this hallucination, but I don't get that from other nature images, so I think you're triggering it somehow. How do you do it?

"living silence" ..i really like that term. is the perfect explanation for why i venture out into the outdoors so much..to get away from the chaos of society let all the thoughts flow out and let nature fill the five senses of my body. which might explain the triggering effect! honestly dont know what i do..just a self taught photographer that wants to capture nature how it wants to be seen..different from how most see it. good shots dont happen at every outing, but usually when i get to a destination, the area just seems to speak to me, guides me were to set up..i dont spend a lot of time composing, just let the scene tell me how it wants to be captured. during processing, i let those memories of the adventure take over so i can try to bring out each sense that took me over.
truly appreciate your kind words..are comments like yours that motivate me more than anything to get out and do what i do..thank you very much!

Aha! Intuition. No wonder I can sense the spirit in your images, because you are sensing the soul of the scene you are shooting. Keep it up! :D
