appearing as a harmless trickle..kautz creek of mt rainier is notorious for flooding. mostly minor but several severe, taking out trails, covering roads in 30 feet of mud..even changing its own course quite often! luckily its current course is nicely placed where views of mt rainiers glaciers can be seen..including kautz glacier, the starting point of this creek. unfortunately..it left a ton of debris to try and shoot around. several hundred feet behind this spot is where the creek empties into the nisqually river, so this is the beginning and pretty much the end of the creek in one :D

kautz creek, mt rainier, washington

please dont use my images in any way without my permission..thank you :)

 Just as awesome as I knew it would be when you emerged from the creek and showed me this shot on the LCD.

Beautifully composed, exposed, processed, and seen. I was both jealous and proud, but more proud, when I knew you nailed this! (think my reaction was, "ooohhhhh baby!!!" or something similar..lol)

Brilliant work, Addam!!

:aww: how have we never talked about that book?! was one of my favorite books in grade school too! my 4th grade teacher gave me a copy with a little handwritten message in it right before summer. read it over and over that summer. pretty sure she was the reason I wanted to become a teacher too! the whole northwest reminds me of that book, every time i visit.

the only thing that is missing(from a titles standpoint)is some steam coming from rainier;)...hopefully you'd never be out when an event like that would happen.....really like the view of rainier in the background!..and a really nice job finding a semi-debriless spot to throw everything into frame..awesome mono work, addam!!

...and some nice lines in the watery foreground bring forth the madness within:D

(and I just realized why! I took another look, and this reminds me of the huge framed print that hung over our fireplace when I was little. :) Brings back a lot of memories, happy and sad. thanks Addam:heart: )

:aww: very honored for your words, Holly! and funny thing..you reminded me about the huge framed print above the fireplace when i was a wee one..it was a section of a stream with foliage rocks and long exposed water..wonder if thats why i eventually got into nature photography!! happy for that..sad that my half-brother ended up getting it and destroying it :rage:

Oh, that sucks. I have no idea where ours may have gotten to. We moved so many times.
Whatever the reason, I'm glad you did! :iconkissmote:
