perry creek falls off the mountain loop highway, WA

a fall passed by many everyday, the trail passes over the top than continues on by farther up stream towards peaks and meadows. was surprised that within the four hours i was at this location..not one of the couple dozens of hikers that passed ventured down..but did try to go to the meadows that are still under ten feet of snow :evillaugh:

..but honestly didnt mind :D

:thanks:

full view of the falls.

Sensational. The light complements the environment, whilst the water feels like silk. Very tranquil.

I know that sun is supposed to be less than ideal for waterfall shooting. However, I am a huge fan of it. It adds a bit of magic to the shot. Very nice!

:) thanks, Paul! had to wait an hour in that spot to get the sun in the right position to be rays instead of pure harshness..glad it seemd to be worth the wait!

Like the landscape version better... the shifting of the water line is a nice touch. The snow season has been crazy. The way it is going it will be prime wildflower season at Rainier on Labor Day.

thanks, Boyan :) usually dont prefer a fall centered in the frame but with that little shift in the water it seemed to work well here. do think you were wise to wait until labor day for the rainier adventure..should be just perfect.

Would say late august would be the best time to go for the optimal water flow..plus wildflower meadows if you continue past the falls. Have you ventured around on the Mountain Loop Highway before?

No, really just started hiking last year and spend most of our time on Rainier and the surrounding areas. We did get up to Wallas Falls a couple of months ago and enjoyed that. Just about have all our gear to start doing some over night hikes so a trip up north for a weekend makes it worth it.

Rainier is definitely top choice! Highly recommend researching the mountain loop highway trails for North destinations. take it you are close to Rainier..is a nice little spot just outside Eatonville along the Little Mashel Creek that is great for a day outing. can read about it here..are three waterfalls within a short distance of each other.
