what better way to spend the first true outing in Spring then a 4 mile hike through 20 feet of snow..with snow coming down?! probably many things!!..but luckily by the time i got to the base of the falls..the sky opened up just above for a brief moment to take some desired shots :]

the drop you see is 70 feet to give some scale to the snow..the snow clumps on the right..my trail

Franklin Falls near Snoqualmie Pass, WA

before the clearing:

please dont use my art unless i give you permission..i can be a pretty nice guy if you just ask :)
:thanks:

Beautiful shot Addam, a little jealous of that snow though;). I never got to that winter outing I had planned in February. It didn't snow once while I was on vacation that week :(.

Anytime away from work is still good time, it was nice to spend time with the wife and kids.
20-30ft, that's insane!

I love the scene. Wonderful snow! Water looks great. But the two foreground rocks don't work for me. I find them more distracting than enhancing.

appreciate the feedback, Jonathan! i see your point..still working on foregrounds with the wide angle vertical shots..always will be practicing ;)

You are welcome! How long you been shooting? Takes years of practice. I find that learning to see compositions by the unaided eye, sans viewfinder, is best.

Did I miss this before I flew out there?!

Sounds like a great way to spend the first true outing of spring. Though, I gotta say, I'm gonna have to work up to that level of snow hiking! That, or get some proper snow shoes... :hmm:

Love, love, love this shot, and glad you decided to share, Addam. It's a masterpiece of exposure, color, and composition. And am serious about wanting a print of it! :eager:

Enchantingly gorgeous work, hon! :faint:

How did you get down the last part of the trail with all the snow? That area is slipper enough in the summertime from all the mist flying around!

Oh and nice shot. :)

 im very lightfooted! was definitely not easy...the trail to where the steepness starts was not too bad from all the snowshoers..but after that..6-7 feet of wet unpacked snow :fear: wasnt terribly bad however and traction was much better than during the summer on those wet rocks!

thanks so much, Chris! :)

:iconwowplz:...i don't even know where to begin w/this madness!..i guess the first line of madness would be the hike...how'd you even know where you were going:?...and not sink in over your head:?...second(and my fav part)is the shot..such a sick comp!!..love the low set up, magical piece of blue in the sky mixing nicely w/all the white:), and the angle to the falls giving some nice profilish definition to the drop...great big bag o' kudos for you this journey, my friend!

 its truly crazy were people go out during the winter! for the most part the trail was packed, though that pack means a couple inches on top of 10 feet..from snowshoers. i should probably get some snowshoes..though ive worn nothing but skate shoes for the last 15 years..they make great hiking boots :D the last several hundred yards, where noone else had traveled, is a totally different story though! will just say some say its crazy just going down there when theres no snow on the ground at all.. ;)
very very appreciative of the kind and kudos my friend! :)
